Hi Macro Group,
Mark up your calendars for April 16th for a Spring Outing. Hopefully some of the spring flowers will still be in bloom. If not, there's always stuff to photography in the woods. We will be visiting Camp Hunt where Rhonda Wathen, our fellow photographer lives.
First, it has been suggested that we carpool as we did in 2014. So those
who are interested, let's meet at Marsh on the north side on Kinser
Pike. Plan to leave the parking lot about 9:10, so we can be out to the
camp by 9:30.
Secondly, Rhonda sent this:
"The parking arrangement for that day.
When you come in the main entrance and drive straight to the big
building (dining hall) the gravel road will wind around to the LEFT of
that building, I hope to have "Pointing"signs to help. But follow it to
the lake, (again another sign), at the top of the hill turn left and
follow it to the place where we had the previous picnic."
Hopefully she will have signs to show us the way.
Rhonda shared this about the facility: "Camp Hunt is a residential facility for men in addiction. There are about 30 men who live and work here. The director is pleased to have the group come and photograph the area, but wanted me to pass along the rules while visiting. Due to the purpose of the facility there is no tobacco, alcohol or drugs allowed on the premises. Also because of confidentiality law, there is no photographing any men, or their families who are allowed to visit on weekends. "
Two years ago we had a fun time having a picnic lunch after a morning of photographing. So the timing looks like this. Meet with Rhonda at the facility at 9:30 so she can point us in the right direction for getting wild flower shots. Bring a sack lunch. Coolers will be provided. We'll meet at the lake late in the morning for lunch. There are some hilly parts of the camp, but Rhonda has motorized golf carts to give rides to those that aren't up to hiking very far.
Here's how to get there:
Directions on Hwy 37:
Driving North on Hwy 37 to Sample Rd (first R. turn after the gas station). Follow Sample to a T. Turn left on Old 37, less than 1/2 a mile turn right on Anderson Rd. Follow it to Fish Rd & turn left. Go up the hill and Camp Hunt entrance is on the right.
Directions on Old 37:
Drive North on old 37 turn right on Anderson Rd. Turn left on Fish Rd. & up the hill, Camp Hunt entrance is on the right.
The correct address is Wheller Mission Ministries at Camp Hunt, 7790 N. Fish Rd.
Rhonda's cell # is 812-606-7179 if you need help.
Hope to see lots of you at 9:30. If we are rained out on Saturday, we'll try again on Sunday, same time and place.
