Guest Presentation by Kate Houlne: Joy: Using Photography to Reunite Ourselves with Nature
Katherine Houlne was born sometime during the sixties in the suburbs of Chicago Illinois. She received her BFA from Northern Illinois University in 2016 and her MFA from Indiana University in 2019. She is currently teaching photography at IU. Her concerns involve negating the nature/human separation inherent in modern thinking. Houlne’s interests lie in the human changes to the environment, exploring the relationships that people have with the land and its other inhabitants – exploring the systems of a whole. Houlne is currently experimenting with analog film processes that rely on the element of chance, allowing things to happen naturally and fall where they may on the photographic surface.
