Pridefest Walk-a-Bout

Want to photograph Bloomington’s 11th annual Pridefest Festival?  A colorful, flamboyant, lively, celebration of diversity.  East Kirkwood will be blocked off for several blocks to accommodate the activities.  Witness thousands of people, costumes, entertainment, music and over 150 vendors. There will be a vibrant ton of rich photographic opportunities and all are welcome. 

Show up anytime on Saturday, September 14, events begin around 2:00 pm and go into the night. Check the Pride web site for updated details https://bloomingtonpride.org.  For those wishing to gather to chat and order food and drink, we will gather outside in front of the Trojan Horse on the corner of Walnut and Kirkwood at 5:00 pm.  Restaurants are reluctant to hold tables for a large group on a Saturday and so far I’ve not been able to secure reservations.  Let’s see who shows up at 5:00 pm and together we’ll find a place that will accommodate all of us. Point and Shoot Walk-a-Bout

The Point and Shoot Focus Group will host a ‘Walk-A-Bout’ on Friday, February 23, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  This in person, fun event is open to any BPC member who wishes to participate.  

 We will gather at 6:00 pm at the South entrance of the Monroe County Courthouse for a brief context and then disperse for walking about downtown Bloomington.  

Perfect weather has been ordered, but we will hold the event ‘rain or shine’.  People may wander solo, in couples or groups.  We will regather at 7:45 pm for a legendary group photo that will be sure to become a family heirloom for all who participate in this fun, casual, in person event.

 But wait, there’s more!  At 8:00 pm for those wishing to chat, share photos or just continue to socialize and get to know your fellow photographers, we will walk to a local restaurant/café for food and beverage (each person responsible for their own tab).

 We will gather at 6:00 pm behind the Sample Gates (see map below) for a brief context and then disperse for walking about the IU campus, explore the sights of Kirkwood Ave., 4th St. global culture and food  shops, parking garages, People’s Park or the back alleys of Bloomington.

Downtown Photo Walk

Meet at Bloomington Bagels on Morton St., near the Farmers' Market. We'll have coffee and a chat first, then on to photograph the Farmers' Market, and/or anywhere else in the neighborhood. Contact Jaime Gonzalez (higonzilla@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

Downtown Photo Walk

We will try this again. The Downtown Photo Walk has been re-scheduled for 10:30 AM, Sunday, May 29th. We will have a bit of coffee and chat, then head out for our Photo Walk.

The Macro Group is sponsoring this Wildflower Outing at McCormick's Creek State Park. All paid club members are welcome! We will meet in the park at the Canyon Inn parking lot, and will then split into two groups. Don Waters will lead a group on Trail 2, which is considered moderate. Nola Donley will lead a group on an easier trail behind the Inn. Either trail is excellent for wildflowers. Suggested gear is your camera, macro lens, tripod, hiking shoes.

We will meet to carpool at Richland Plaza at 1:00 pm. There is a $7.00 per carload fee to enter the park, so carpooling is recommended. Email Nola Donley is you plan to join the carpool.

We will meet at the Owlery Restaurant https://www.theowleryrestaurant.com/ at 10:30 AM. After a cup of coffee, we will set off to take photos of Bloomington.
