The Bloomington Photography Club has established an award to honor long service to the club and the community by Dr. Robert Wrenn. The award will be a $200.00 donation to add new photography books in his honor to join the photo collection at the Monroe County Public Library each year.

Wrenn, a retired obstetrics and gynecology specialist, and until recently an active member of the Monroe County Board of Health, is a nationally recognized photographer whose underwater and wildlife images are highly respected. Within the local photo club he has mentored many seeking to learn the techniques of capturing wildlife images and time-lapse star trail photos at night.

The BPC has chosen to create this award as Bob and his wife Ann complete their relocation to be nearer family in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Bloomington Photography Club is a congenial group of people of all ages and levels of proficiency, united by a passion for photography. The Club currently has about 165 members and is one of the largest in the state. They hold regular monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month in a “hybrid” format at the Monroe County Public Library and also online via Zoom. The meetings alternate between photo-shares and guest speakers, and several also include a short “tech tip” on various topics. Field trips are also scheduled to places of interest within and beyond Indiana.

In addition, the club has several “focus groups,” smaller groups that meet monthly or bi-monthly through which members can pursue special interests such as portraits, landscape, sports, street, macro, video, creative techniques and film photography. There are also volunteer mentors who answer questions and help people with a variety of photographic questions. The club also distributes free donated cameras to help budding photographers. For more information check the BPC web site at http://bloomingtonphotoclub.org. The club also maintains a lively page on Facebook.
