Join us in a Covered Bridge Photo Field Trip

Meet at 8:00 a.m. in Ellettsville in the strip mall parking lot at Rte. 46 and Union Valley Rd., near the Indiana BMV. People may choose to carpool from there. As an alternative, people can meet at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot at the north end of the covered bridge at Bridgeton.

Here’s the link for a map of the Parke County covered bridges: http://coveredbridgesguide.com/documents/CoveredBridgesGuide-preview.pdf
NOTE: If clicking on this url does not take you to the site, try copying the url and pasting it into your browser. (This may be more difficult if you are using an iPad.) Another strategy is to right-click on the url and at the top of the resulting menu click on "open in new tab." The new tab will appear at the top of your screen; click on it

It would be a good idea to download and print the map (it’s on page 4 of the Guide) to have with you. You can print it by clicking on the small printer icon at the far right of the menu line above the image of the Guide’s cover.

The drive takes about an hour and a half, heading west on 46, north on 59, and west on CR 780 to the Bridgeton Bridge. After arrival, people can set out on their own to photograph locations of their choosing. We will make some recommendations on which might be good photo ops, but there are 32 bridges in all--too many to visit in one day but lots of variety.

For lunch, we will meet at Thirty Six Saloon, 108 E. Ohio St., in Rockville (they have outdoor seating) around 12:30 p.m. to discuss what we saw and what we liked, and to share ideas. People will then be able to go back out for more touring or return to Bloomington.

Please email Walt Sterneman at walt@sterneman.net to indicate your interest and whether you will meet in Ellettsville or Bridgeton. This will ensure we do not leave without someone we are expecting.
